Andalusian region.
Andalusia had a turbulent past. The Moorish domination has left many traces
in the rugged Spanish landscape. The Alhambra in Granada is also called the eighth
wonder of the world and is about 1.5 hours drive from our finca.
Near Mijas there are several towns and white villages to discover and visit. You can make a tour to Sevilla and Cordoba or do the white villages route Pueblos Blancos. The city of Ronda certainly speaks to the imagination but do not forget Gaucin and Ojen!
The road to Istan is unforgettable. You go up in the Sierra de las Nieves, with views of the hills, lakes and the Mediterranean Sea.
Malaga is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso (his birthplace is now a museum) and Malaga
has a center with a beautiful cathedral. With Easter and in mid-August you can experience the ferias with their beautiful processions.
The feria in Fuengirola, with the horses and flamenco dance, is in the first week of October.
Flamenco, tapas, sherry: you find it everywhere in Andalucia. If you still want to experience the bullfighting you can do this every Sunday in Mijas and Ronda.
In Ronda you can find the circuit of Ascari. This Dutch supercar manufacturer has its own race track with all the dramatic turns of the Formula 1 circuits.
From Andalusia and the Costa del Sol you can touch Africa. You can go from Malaga to Tangier in Morocco very easy and it is certainly worth visiting.
In the winter months you can ski perfectly in the Sierra Nevada. At a 1.5 hours drive
you can ski in the morning and sit in the sun at the beach in the afternoon.
Are you looking for the rich and famous? Take a drink in Marbella. Puerto Banus is the
obvious place to shop, see nice cars and yachts.
Remember to visit the old town of Marbella with the cobbled shopping streets, squares with orange trees and a beautiful park.
